Tolar-Westgate Funerals & Cremations has been serving Waukegan & Chicagoland area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.

Westgate Funerals and Tributes, was founded in 1990 in Chicago, Illinois by LaDwyina Tolar-Slater. The name Westgate is Biblically inspired acknowledging 12 gates of heaven with 3 of the heavenly gates in the west, hence Westgate.

In 1996 Westgate Funerals and Tributes became the first funeral service In Lake County to provide arrangement conferences within the comfortable atmosphere of a corporate office which was located in downtown Waukegan. The community welcomed Westgate with their support and efforts of searching for a full facility in Waukegan with hopes that Westgate would expand.

With Blessings from God, support from the community officials, churches and the families we have served, Westgate Funerals and Tributes expanded to our current location, offering the largest funeral chapel in Waukegan, Illinois.

On June 2nd of 2018, Eric and Julene Tolar purchased the family business from LaDwyina Tolar-Slater and that is how Tolar-Westgate Funerals & Cremations came to be.
